The mission of the C.R. Moore Legacy Foundation is to provide innovative support to nonprofit charitable organizations using traditional Biblical values as a guiding principle, thereby impacting, and strengthening the community and the Church. The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, or for lobbying or campaign purposes. The Foundation favors charitable organizations serving the residents of Lake Worth Beach and Palm Beach County.

The Foundation is committed to the following core focus areas:

  • Improve the health and quality of life for families and households.

  • Inspire the growth and development of children and youth.

  • Aid and assist senior citizens.

  • Advance the Church in fulfilling the Great Commission and in making disciples.

  • Assist in the recovery of natural disasters.

Legacy

The C.R. Moore Legacy Foundation is named in honor of the Rev. C.R. Moore who was the founder of the Lake Worth First Church of the Nazarene and the Lake Worth Towers, an 11-story building with 195 apartments exclusively for seniors. Rev. Moore was involved with the community in numerous ways from 1946 until his death in 1994. Our governing board dates back to 1965 with the beginning of Lake Worth Towers. The C.R. Moore Legacy Foundation was chartered in 2023 after the board made the decision to sell Lake Worth Towers and use funds from this sale to operate the charitable foundation.

Process

Our process for awarding grants is grounded by foundation best practices and our mission statement. The Foundation normally makes grant awards one time each year.

After preliminary due diligence, research and site visits, foundation staff will formulate a list of prospective non-profit organizations serving one, or more of the five core focus areas. Organizations selected by the board are invited to apply for a grant. They will be provided a link to complete the formal application process online. The foundation only considers requests from entities that have been specifically invited to submit a grant application.

The board places emphasis on innovative proposals and looks for organizations which may have other partners able to match a grant received from the C.R. Moore Legacy Foundation.

What our annual grant approval process typically looks like:

  1. Investigate organizations who would benefit from a grant.

  2. An invitation is provided to the organization to submit a grant.

  3. Foundation staff provide information on each organization to the board of directors.

  4. Review and approval by the board of directors for each grant application.
